Beschreibung

‘I’ve been answering questions about bisexuality – curious and benevolent, accusatory and suspicious, disgusting and discriminatory – for most of my life. Until recently, I was always answering just from my perspective. I didn’t know what other bisexuals did, or thought, or said. Then one day I woke up and decided that I wanted to find out. I started coming out to more people and asking them about their sexuality. In this process I realised that most of my close friends identify as bisexual, and that I had no idea because I never asked them. I wondered what other questions I wasn’t asking. And then it struck me. What does science say about this?‘ In Bi Julia Shaw takes a fresh look at bisexuality, how to talk about it without feeling awkward, what science tells us about sexuality, how to build a more sexually inclusive society and why more people don’t consider bisexuality an option. This is a personal and scientific manifesto, and a declaration of love and respect, for the sexually in-between.

Dr Julia Shaw is a criminal psychologist at University College London. She is actively involved in bisexual research and is the founder of the international Bisexual Research Group.
